AW27 Development Exploration Report
Trends × Color × Category Application
Autumn/Winter 2027–28 women’s woven outerwear — a working exploration from seasonal themes and key color palettes to developable styles and colorways, prepared as a development brief for European brand buyers and design teams.
This AW27 development exploration sets out the seasonal direction for women’s woven outerwear: the macro themes, the key color palette from Première Vision and WGSN × Coloro, four order-ready colorways, the silhouettes that sell, and how each maps to our wool, PU, padded and sherpa lines. It is written for brand buyers and design teams looking to develop Autumn/Winter 2027-28 with a BSCI-certified outerwear manufacturer in China.
01
Why NowSeason Calendar
The coat is settled first in any season: it carries the heaviest fabric, the most components and the longest production slot. It cannot wait for the runway — the runway only confirms a direction that was locked at the fabric and color-card stage months earlier.
02
Four Macro ThemesMacro Themes
The signals from different forecasters align closely: the spine of the season is “quiet luxury, made functional” — outdoor performance done with restraint and elegance for commuting, answered by material and touch for a digitally flattened world.
Quiet Luxury × Soft Technicality
Strip away the bulk and aggression of outdoor gear. Clean, intellectual color and soft craft produce a lightweight “soft-armor” coat that moves seamlessly from commute to light trail.
Living Materiality
Première Vision names the season “Living Matter”: color serves the surface, letting materials reveal their grain and irregularity. Regenerative, mineral and plant-derived stories become the anchors.
Wild Mineral · Earth-Born Neutrals
Color drawn from high plains and weathered rock. A low-saturation earthy palette tells a softer story; parkas and coats carry it in oatmeal, deep coffee and retro navy for a sense of duration and safety.
Humanistic Retro · Emotional Healing
Saturated warmth arrives as a dopamine accent: high-energy red-orange, bright yellow and warm russet lift the mood, clashing warm against cool pine green and crystal blue to break the wall of dark winter tones.
03
AW27/28 Color SystemColor System
The season’s palette can be summarised in one line: warm-led, split into two levels of lightness, built on low-saturation earth neutrals and punctuated with saturated accents. We break the authoritative palettes into three tiers — core continuity colors (steady volume), seasonal key colors (tone-setting) and trend accents (talkability) — then turn them into orderable colorways.
3.1 Seasonal Key Colors — WGSN × Coloro, AW27/28
3.2 Material Key Colors — Première Vision, AW27/28
3.3 Trend Accents — Dopamine
* HEX values are visual approximations sampled from the official color descriptions, not exact swatch values. For sampling and dyeing, refer to the official Coloro / Pantone cards and lab dips.

Colorway PairingsColorway Pairings
A single trend color does not make a commercial style — what orders is a structure of one base + one supporting + one accent. The four schemes below are grouped by product line (PU / wool / padded / parka-coat), each anchored to a clear theme and use case.
The safest-and-still-elevated scheme: mineral beige as the base, cool gray for tone, algae and forest greens as layered accents. Matte high-density plain weave and low-saturation satin finish carry it best — ideal for commuting-oriented neutral outerwear.
Supporting Harbor Gray
Accent Algae Gel
Deep Cedar Green
The earthy, softly-narrated line. Oatmeal/white smoke as the base, bronze and caramel red-brown to hold the weight, with a single deep green as punctuation. Fits the enveloping cocoon wool coat and the parka with removable fur collar. Material leads; color stays low-saturation.
Supporting Mojave Desert
Bronze Brown
Accent Russet
Warmth translated into warm color: cream/oatmeal base with maize and warm red-brown, edged in deep green. Naturally suited to quilting, wide baffles and down-filled pieces. High lightness and strong shelf presence — the volume-driving tier.
Supporting Maize
Russet
Deep Green
The most talked-about scheme of the season: Luminous Blue leads, soft lilac neutralises, deep green grounds. Built for high-gloss nylon and metallic-yarn blends — gloss reads futuristic, matte reads coolly intellectual.
Lead Luminous Blue
Supporting Peaceful Lilac
Deep Green / Cold Black
* In practice, start each style with two colors (one core neutral + one seasonal key). Add the 3rd and 4th as same-style color additions only after the first buyer feedback. Avoid loading five colors onto one style — it drives sampling and fabric-holding cost out of control.
05
Silhouettes & Key ItemsSilhouettes
The design logic has shifted from “physical defense against cold” to “emotional healing and controlled volume”: less bulk, less clutter, clean structure balancing warmth with line. Below, grouped by our product lines.
| Category | Key Silhouettes | Structure & Craft Points |
|---|---|---|
| Padded / Down | Puffy shawl-collar, zip jacket, drawstring-waist, slim vertical-quilt, mid-length below-knee, fleece-lined parka | Down-filled shawl collar; cocoon short body + ribbed high collar or hooded full zip; dual drawstring waist for shape-shifting; vertical diamond quilting to tame puffiness; concealed placket + side vents |
| Wool Coats | Enveloping cocoon coat, cape / shroud / scarf coat | Dropped shoulder, below-knee length, double-face or brushed wool holding shape with almost no canvassing; capes show every edge — the edge finish is the detail the buyer approves at sampling |
| PU / Technical | Urban-armor jacket, softshell / shell type, lightweight panelled bomber | Seamless heat-pressing instead of stitching; nylon × teddy-fleece tactile contrast; two routes — matte high-density plain weave vs. low-saturation satin gloss |
| Coats / Parkas | Gender-neutral long coat, parka with removable fur collar, utility-pocket jacket | Matte water-repellent nylon; removable hood/collar and lining extend styling; magnetic straps, utility pockets |
| Sherpa / Pile | Wearable pile coat, liner-style wool pile | Lightweight faux-fur / shearling hand-feel; used as a panelling face against nylon or softshell for material collision |
06
Fabric & Craft DirectionFabric & Craft
Multiple Lusters
Gloss and soft-sheen run in parallel: polyester metallic-yarn blends / glossy nylon (FDY type) for a street-luxury feel; low-saturation satin for an elegant party short coat. One rule: luster should be controlled, never oily.
High-Density Matte Plain Weave
The textural language of minimal commuting. High-density polyester plain weave and nylon-cotton blends — crisp yet soft, abrasion- and crease-resistant: the core carrier for coats and neutral outerwear.
Seamless & Bonded
Seamless heat-pressing replaces conventional stitching; wide-baffle and micro-rib quilting hold loft; bonded construction delivers lightweight warmth without bulk — all “subtractive” craft, in step with the season’s de-bulking logic.
Tactile Contrast
Material mixing is the season’s premium detail: windproof nylon × soft teddy fleece, leather × pile, matte × satin panelling — communicating quality through “touchable difference”.
Sustainability note: the season’s narrative leans heavily on recycled, mineral and plant-dyed language. Our external line stays as it is — BSCI as the headline credential; “recycled-fabric options” are shown only on request when a buyer raises sustainability first, never promoted proactively.
